My passive knowledge of Polish had vastly exceeded my practiced competence, and this just wasn't finding an avenue of expression anywhere. Now, I feel like I may be pretty much fluent within a couple of months, at the current rate of learning.

Keeping my fingers crossed! It's always hard for me to believe that someone might actually choose to learn Polish. This language is a tangled mess of billion grammar rules and even more exceptions. If I were an expat in Poland I probably wouldn't bother 😅

I always feel like that's a sort of prideful framing common to Slavic cultures (and many others)! Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Serbs, Slovenians etc. have all told me their language is *the* hardest to learn ('BESIDES CHINESE!') and anyway has so few users, and... :P
