The idea that any of those guys could get any mileage out of their anger in an *actual* confrontation always has me in tears, laughing.

Being able to switch it off - because it's fake - means it's pretty easy to revert back to being the "adult" if anyone actually gets angry. But yes, in real life it's hardly a sensible tactic.

The correct response to this kind of performative anger is incisive mockery.

The other possibility is to ramp up sincerety to the point of absolutely nill tolerance for or engagement with bullshit.
But this is a game most politicians are incapable of playing, for obvious reasons.
