Don't think you are talking about the same thing! I believe Gregory is talking about a quality of awareness, cultivated e.g. with mahamudra, which is indeed free from suffering. You can fit the smaller awareness into it, too. My understanding here is incomplete, though. On/off.

I'm in a very annoying state - hopefully a transition! - where I am sort of there most of the time, but some things aren't integrated. Said things are mostly also extremely bothersome personal problems (and whatever is keeping those fuelled), so it's sort of hellish/heavenly.
