What would you say is more descriptive of your mental content when life is better and easier: 1) Less mental chatter 2) Happier mental chatter (If a combination, can you weight it one way or the other?) See working definition of mental chatter:

Clarifying: Mental chatter - repetitive, unceasing, diversifies under attention "I have to get started on this task soon, shit, Amazon is burning down..." Problem-solving thought - limited, purposive, intensifies under attention, definitive end point "Something smells burnt!"

I'd say happier. That said, I'd add that when I do things (exercise, meditation) that makes me have less mental chatter without being an escapism (overindulgence) , life tends to be easier / better. Still processing all of that so I might be slightly off target in my analysis

To be more precise, not happier but more neutral. "need to do this and that" "have to answer that message" "oh you're going to that event in two weeks that cool". Lots of prompt around topics I'm wondering about. Or whatever my mind considers the matter not closed.
