Most of the time it is neither negative nor positive, it just problem solving (if looked at closely.) Unless something is quite wrong in my life, however, I get more positive chatter than negative. That wasn't always the case.

Problem solving "what should I eat/What should I do today/Should I have some water." Positive, "God this (whatever) is great." Negative "I'm worried about X." In most cases further analysis will push almost all into problem solving.

your intellect is trying to help you avoid suffering and get good stuff. It's often pretty shitty at that, but if you decompose, that's what's going on. Insoluble problems by the intellect lead to loops and obsessive thoughts, usually bad. That's all.

but don't ask me, do the analysis yourself. Just watch and analyze your thought stream for a couple weeks. As a side effect, one also tends to find one gets less thoughts, though at first it seems like more.
