Clarifying:
Mental chatter - repetitive, unceasing, diversifies under attention
"I have to get started on this task soon, shit, Amazon is burning down..."
Problem-solving thought - limited, purposive, intensifies under attention, definitive end point
"Something smells burnt!"
There are probably a few more categories of thought that aren't repetitive and self-perpetuating.
Let's file these under problem-solving for now. A perfect taxonomy isn't needed.
