One slightly surprising side-effect of more embodied awareness is that I eat far, far less food than before.
I can't eat more than two meals a day, often just one. It just feels terrible. Overall almost halved my food consumption.

Still eat too many sweets, but that feels likely to go as well.

There's no real ethical or nutritional dimension to this choice. Body just doesn't feel right otherwise.

I suspect the underlying reason is that comfort eating - which is really what a lot of habitual eating under abundance conditions is - is dissociative.
It's a way to avoid a lot of specific feelings and body conditions. But in itself, it's overeating, and overeating feels bad.

There's no real metabolic reason for continually stuffing your face with food.
It's mostly psychological, or psychosomatic.

(Yes, yes, caveats apply - nobody has the same body as anyone else.)

Amazing how much clarity comes up when the old noggin' gets the Marie Kondo treatment.

Yeah, above makes sense, and there’s also the social rhythms / behaviour patterns & habits of those around you that signal “time to eat now.”
When that signal is reduced, one can really tune into one’s digestive system and metabolic needs
