Fear the Walking Dead would be a completely different show if they had discovered 1) spears and 2) leather jackets, gardening gloves, and crash helmets.
The zombies are so pathetic (they kill four dozen per episode just walking around) and so very stupid, they'd go extinct.

Koreans somehow manage to get this right pretty much every time, though. Not sure why English language zombie fiction has to be so shitty.

Asian zombies are early-stage proto-vampires.
It's later in their life-cycle that they become full vampire.

The Wailing has - I don't want to spoil it, but zombies are quite unlike the usual.
Kingdom has a zombie plague in Joseon Korea, but people react to it in pretty comprehensive ways. Gets out of hand for reasons of malice and incompetence. But the setting is low fantasy AFAICT.
Or have a watch of "Kung-Fu Zombie" for an experience. :D
