In 1998, I was a Teamster driving a giant yellow Caterpillar earthmover in an enormous hole in the ground in California that was to become a reservoir. One day I wore a pink shirt & khaki dockers to work. My guys panicked. I don't know if people understand how homophobic men are.

Homophobia is still a thing in Norway, but it's become an order of magnitude less common since I was in primary school.
Really amazing how fast this stuff can change - but unfortunately, in either direction.
