Theoretically I could stay w/my half-sister & her husband till I found someplace to live

Well my visitations since my youth (I went almost every year until late teens) have been sparse & restricted in mobility. I don't feel comfortable navigating on my own.
e.g. my pronunciation is fine but vocabulary extremely limited hence I sound like a retard.

So you can introduce yourself in English, explain about your situation, speak Norwegian, switch back and forth as necessary... should work.

My sister (who visits often, b/c she is still friends w/her elementary school classmates) says Norwegians don't want to speak English b/c embarrassed to do so in front of other Norwegians

Ok, yeah, pretty much all my existence in Norway was in and around Oslo
