One thing I will never understand about Westerner meditators is how eager some are to ape renunciate paths and their received wisdom.
I know exactly one meditator who has renounced much of life, and they have good reason.
Are any of the rest of you going to renounce? No...?

Then why the fuck act like it's even an interesting modality of practice for more than one person in a hundred?
Or worse, that it's the only worthy modality?!?

It can't be an accident that the most fervent proselytes of renunciation-while-alive-in-the-world come from communities blighted with rape claims.
Public shaming is a primary tool of the abuser, and that stuff gets internalized quickly by most victims.

It's not that renunciate paths are per se bad.
It's that they're often not appropriate for Westerners, and predators frequently teach us corrupted versions.
