everytime somebody totally loses their shit and does something deranged, I'm like, "yea, I feel u." Sometimes it's destructive, cruel, hurtful shit, in which case... "bruh,,, why u gotta hurt others." But if a guy is punching himself in the face on the train, I relate tbh

only real difference b/n me and the guy punching himself is that I have been blessed with a little bit more imagination. so I get to do things in a more roundabout way, and involve others in my game
i punch myself in the face via other people tweeting dumb shit at me

more significantly, when I see people responding like "wow wtf is wrong with that guy" on news articles etc, I always feel/think "... I am more like that guy than you"

To be honest, I'm never convinced that any of us (including myself) getting morally outraged about shitty behaviour aren't exactly like that.
Exceptions for genuinely monstrous behaviour, perhaps. But we're all sort of assholes in some way.

Now, some people may be more damaged and ignorant than others and more willing to inflict pain.
But this "I am better than you, you are scum," kind of nonsense is a very fast way to become one of those people.

The interesting thing is I never saw this as an argument against e.g. use of force.
Sometimes you have to defend someone, or yourself. This is just how things play out.
Does the person you are defending against have to be beneath contempt for it to be OK? I don't think so.
But a lot of the time, people seem so keen to make these things *easier* for themselves, that they'd rather make caricatures than be honest.
