People have this immense fear that if you strip away their inhibitive conditioning, they turn into monsters.
Sometimes it's less a fear, more a generalized expectation, or humor, but I digress...
My friends, conditioning like this is how you *make* monsters.

Parents have this absurd expectation that they have to teach their kids to be compassionate.
You can't teach a psychopath compassion. Anyone else, you don't have to.
Kids need tools, not rules. But we rear them in a world that violates their freedom until they eventually break.

What there is abundant evidence for, however, is that you can teach children cruelty, abuse, dissociation, conceit, anxiety...
The corruption of children is easy, and proceeds often from the best of intentions. Allegedly the best of intentions, anyway.
