you could make a case for both. he'd never last in GP, and even in PC someone (like his cop cellmate-cops go into PC too) would probably still whack him, just on general principles.

Oh, sure. I'd happily do it myself! After he testified, though. I'm about 98-2 on this being a deliberate hit, given all the weirdness from the last "attempt."

people like him in prison get tortured, disfigured, extorted and ultimately killed. I have no trouble believing he'd kill himself once he saw the writing on the wall. I can even see him paying people to look the other way or help him do it.

conspiracies exist. it's the level of competency that they attribute to the conspirators that is usually implausible. something like this is pretty mickey mouse, if someone wanted him gone.
