As a friend pointed out, a lot of American Buddhists seem to reject the 3rd and 4th noble truths. I don't see how you can do that and still call yourself a Buddhist.

Christ didn't leave a clear 4 statement "this is my religion." As for the bible, it's a fucking mess, no one can figure out a damn thing from it if they take it all seriously.

The problem is welding Judaism to the New Testament, and Christ's teaching to the crap that other people put into the New Testament.
It's not, imo, doable, though people sure try.
Buddha's basic teachings are simple, the problem is the loss of original techniques.

but if you aren't ending suffering by ending desire, you aren't doing Buddhism as the Buddha taught it. I don't see a way around that.
