Boundless joy isn't the only worthy experiential default, but it sure beats anything else I can remember.

Like, not to tar everyone with the same brush, but why are so many strains of Buddhism concerned with joy denial?

When it isn't terrible or awful, it is!
(The price is feeling, well, everything, fully as it arises all through until it passes. All the bad stuff, too.)
