One minor pet peeve I have is programmers/coders calling themselves engineers. Engineers build/design something which is more than code.

and yeah, I know this is a generation thing, and use has changed. It still feels wrong to me every time I hear or read it.

And if you're not going to listen to Nick, definitely don't listen to me, because I'm just some guy. Spending a few years doing computational linguistics is about the closest I've gotten to doing engineering work. And that was ~three levels of abstraction from *software* output.
