Well min wage is $2600 per month (in Alberta), so $1000 would do not much other than subsidize working poor so employers could continue to externalize basic self-sufficiency? "Ability to say no" means GBI at min wage or equivalent GBA, no?

Funny thing is, rent will take all $1000 for most, yet rent is $0 when occupier is owner (without mortgage), so why not use the billions to buy land outright to solve the problem permanently and avoid the needless flow of tokens?

UBI looks to be making a tortuous path to more subsidies for capitalists at present. If they can find a way to avoid contributing to the financing of UBI, all it means to them in the short term is more security on their rents, no?
