I stopped expecting much of anything from humanity as a whole, and all but the most righteous individuals in particular, sometime this year.
Been immeasurably happier since then, I've slowly come to realize.

It's not a spiteful or angry sentiment. Our species just isn't anything special, and most members of it are representative of that.
Human exceptionalism is a lie.
Nothing you see should make you "lose faith in humanity," because it doesn't merit any to begin with.

If you want a better world for humanity, or indeed any other species, just do what you think is best for that, and get others to join if you can.
There is absolutely no point giving a rat's ass what the species, or, god forbid, "we", will do. You can't decide that.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I see vultures flock around people like Elon Musk.
Sure, he's probably an asshole. Sure, Tesla treats its workers badly.
Are *you* doing anything to proliferate solar energy, electric cars more ethically? Oh, no? Who would have guessed!

People, plural, can't even be trusted not to mess up other people's solutions to their problems

The best thing Christianity ever did was give us the Jesus myth but then it corrupted it utterly.
There is no "dying for our sins," that's all a self-serving lie. Jesus dies because people get angry when he won't put up with their bullshit, and nobody speaks for him. Simple as.

If you want to do real good here, be prepared to have your character assassinated, along with your person, your family, your legacy...
That's just the job, though.
