Within two standard deviations of the mean? Yeah, no, not really. With outliers, +- 3 SDs? Sure, but you're either too clever for more IQ to appreciate to better life outcomes or too stupid for it to matter, and it's not like most people will spot the difference, either.

A 5-point difference does not mean the same at every point in the distribution, unless you're seriously suggesting that a move from 50th to 62nd percentile, and 99.99th to 99.997th, are at all similar. Yes, TY, I am above the plateau for QoL improving in tandem with IQ.

If you're at such low IQ levels that it starts to interfere with basic skills, sure, 5 points of IQ in either direction can certainly make a difference. For ordinary people, it really is only significant to Mensa members thinking that their jump from 1/20 to 1/50 matters. Dumb.
