Random aside: I don't like double XP in MMOs -- the last bloody thing I want to do is out-level content faster.
(aside, currently not playing any MMOs, which feels strange. Even took WOW of my computer, which is amazing.)

The only time that wasn't annoying was from the early 30s to 60 in pre-Cataclysm WoW, when you stopped having constant quests to complete.
Didn't mind not having to kill quite as many kodos to level up...
