Terrible, backbreaking work. Surrounded by a lot of really soulless creeps as colleagues. Not the best pay available for the skill set.

I got through a ridiculously competitive recruitment pool to work at a recruitment agency, but left early in induction. The people who stayed were all... bad. One, a son of a CEO who was remarkably smart (and prob. a sociopath) went on to lead a product team in his fav. hobby.

I went on to get a job that should have me cross-qualified in two different fields, of which I have 0. I get paid more than some of my Norwegian friends. In Poland. I got really lucky on that, but that still seems like a better use of sales "talent" than, well, fuckin' sales.

Point being: If you can actually sell shit, you can do so much more with that than peddling products & services with other, money-obsessed creeps.

Well, difference being that engineering and science are things people care about doing. Nobody I met in sales was into anything else than making money. If that's your fix, why are you applying your skills so poorly? Is my point.
