I had a friend that I used to enjoy exchanging emails with when we were 20. I just read something he recently wrote, and I was surprised at how tediously overwrought it was. We used to write quite similarly in 2010. Then I became a marketer and he became an academic. 🤔

I charge extra for academic translation & editing, not because the material is more challenging (I do stuff like specs for chemical compounds, so...), but because it's tedious beyond words to handle their style.
