you know, for all of the criticism I've heard about liberal SJW types whining too much, the people who I've heard doing the most whining have always been grumpy conservative old men. Top 10 worst whiners I know are all old men. They whine to captive audiences – wives, kids

Did a quick count. My top 10 would be 60% women. This is a cross-cultural sample.
AFAICT, about half the women have extrapersonal reasons to be that way, though, as opposed to just one of the men.
Long story short: sampling + anecdotal evidence.

Weirdly, most of those women are from countries with relatively lower equality and high degree of structural + direct violence towards women.
Personally, I only know one woman, maybe two, from Norway who is that egregiously resentful.
I know many more shitty Norwegian men.
But this is its own kind of sampling: I am very careful about which men I associate with abroad.
