cessation is often a blanking out. I think you pushed very hard on concentration accomplishments and didn't get permanent state changes. Also, often it takes more than one awakening + work to pound in a conditioning. Took me 3 years to get anger to mostly non-binding.

anything you either try to push away or pull closer/cling to will tend to be very hard to either get rid of or change. Attempts to get rid of bad stuff are interpreted by the mind as "this is still important, better keep bringing it up." (The Mind is kind of an asshole.)

I think the 'mind is not conscious' theory is useful. It's a part of a bigger c&c system, and it's badly coded both biologically and socially.
