Say you use a "supplement", most people don't bat an eye. Say it's a "drug" or a "stimulant"...

Yes. You will find that there is a hard, hard divide between state-monopolized or tariffed goods (i.e. coffee, alcohol, tobacco) and everything else.
Wikileaks even uncovered at least one case of (probable) state censorship of positive news items about cannabis.
I have a pet theory that this all relates to the old PM having a heroin-addicted sister right after the worst yuppie period.
