Asian city planning is peculiarity nonuniform. Taipei is not as extreme as Beijing, but almost next to modern shiny Taipei 101 there is a neighborhood full of the crappy 70s era concrete monstrosities.

Poland is similar, but not as extreme. I recently took an interest (still largely unexplored) in old South Korean movies. Seoul 50 years ago looked about the same as many Polish cities today.

I was actually in Korea about a month ago, though not in Seoul. Looked very clean and high tech. Taiwanese are however much nicer, well-behaved and more sober when walking down the street.

Interesting. Another thing that struck me in Korea was the conformity with fashion. All young men were well dressed, but looked almost alike with their dress and hair style. Taiwan is much more random, even careless, with clothing.
