Always bums me out when people who seem like intellectuals turn out to really be in the game of rationalizing their self interest, looking for ways to confuse + intimidate others, etc. Genuine intellectual honesty is so precious and rare

Yeah. Intellectuals, like politicians, are generally underpaid for what they do. Easy to pimp them out for your own purposes. Just acquire a carrot, a bit of string, and a stick...
