There is a meditative attainment where you are in touch with your basic happiness when there is little to obstruct it. Got that.
There is further attainment where you don't care about obstruction, though I'm not there yet.
Still enjoying the heck out of the former right now.

Most people who get to nr. 1 are probably satisfied.
For someone as stooped as me, the extra work is probably worth it.

One thing they rarely tell you: Enlightenment is mostly for complete, utter idiots, and for people living with hideous amounts of pain.
It's not necessarily for everyone.
