Is it just me, or are most internet browsers getting steadily worse?

Chrome takes up like 80% of my laptop’s processing power, and it’s a great laptop from like 18 months ago.
Also google inbox is slow in chrome wtf

I think the browsers are getting slowly incrementally better; but websites themselves are getting waaay more bloated. New reddit can't scroll smoothly in safari on my $3k laptop.
I blame all the overuse of client side JS frameworks. Browsers render html really well!
