Some causes of suffering: "Why does s/he...?" "Why don't they understand...?" "This is not what I expected!" "Things should be this way..." "It's obvious that..." Mind makes assumptions, confuses them with truth.

One of the most powerful aspects of dzogchen is using irritation, other disturbing emotions as reminders, not to blame, but to look at mind itself.

Hm. I haven't tried this as any sort of specific practice. Sounds useful. I sometimes go "oh, annoying/speculative thoughts," and then they shut off. But that's a bit different.

we aren't trying to shut anything off here. simply being aware of the drama, letting it be without being transfixed by it, nor wanting it to disappear. seeing the entire panorama as the self-display of mind.
