It would also be nice if we stopped using Excel for any and all collaborative documents, but not so sure this is feasible.

When I worked tech support, we had all kinds of task swapping and camaraderie to cover rough days and help everyone keep the metrics good. Except Excel. Fuck Excel. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Everything that runs in Excel is horrendously buggy, and small pieces of data are lost every time you have to reboot over some minor issue or freze. This makes version control more than a little bit messy, esp. in bloated intranet structures with lots of tech debt.

Yeah. I'm not deeply familiar with all the alternatives, but I'm aware a lot of them entail major problems of their own. Then there is how heavily entrenched Excel is in large orgs, and how much work it would take to migrate. The replacement would have to be *vastly* superior.
