What about criticizing oneself? I guess that's an individual problem. Anyways good points, what you're bringing up is quite the logical fallacy when used in a debate

Mpre of a universal one. Most people are terrible at self-criticism.
Even people capable of seeing their own flaws tend to overcompensate the other way.
Lack of group introspection is certainly a problem, but if it's a particular problem with partisans? Dunno.
