Keeping to a discrete range of techniques, but trying to bring them into as many activities as possible.

There are many arguments against a multidisciplinarian approach.
You'll lack context, you may go in circles, you will struggle with basic terminology (because it is never used consistently, and they all share).
But one advantage: you can pick up new techniques pretty fast.

By now I've tried so many different meditation techniques, I can pretty much DIY an entire array of practices designed to practice any area I want.
This may be more or less the only advantage I've derived from years of eclectic stumbling about, but at least it's something.
