Only one thing to say about that: I miss when idiot bigots were more concerned with showing disdain for book-reading than pretending that reading makes them special. It's just so, so pathetic.

If I have to sit through another BS reading of Thomas Aquinas, Machiavelli or Marcus Aurelius (pretty incredible they use him like that)...

That last one always gets me. Marcus Aurelius was nothing like these people on any level - at least not as a matter of record. Aquinas was an elitist fop and Machiavelli was a serial womanizer, although he did have some principles - so that at least makes *some* sense. But him?
