if you're only on page 23, I can guarantee it gets either massively better, or massively worse, depending on your perspective. ...but I'm glad you like it.

Around 60 now. Just plodding along in spurts. Loving the personal stories & social commentary. Not as hot on the superantihero parts. Yet, anyway. I'm guessing there's some autobiographical elements tucked in with the pre-suit days? The story there feels a lot tighter, somehow.

funny, some people think that front load of character stuff is a bit clunky. other people find it very compelling. but yeah it is loosely based on aspects of my life around that time, to the point chapter 2 is just compressed autobiography.

That makes sense, yeah. It comes across as authentic, which is probably why I find it more appealing. It's also a bit unclear if that part of the plot is set in the US, Canada or both - seeming contradictions in context, at times. But that could be sloppy reading on my part.
