for some context, I'm kind of shopping around for a book title. I think I may end up going with "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" or "KNOW WHAT YOU WANT". But a one word thing would be masterful (eg "ANTIFRAGILE", "OUTLIERS", "FREAKONOMICS") aw man, Linda beat me to it

btw another way of framing all of this is as a 4-part solution to boredom. I got the first 3 words down... last one is infuriatingly out of reach

I could probably write a book about this, but actually any smart person should be able to chase down the implications themselves It’s interesting that there isn’t a single word that solves 4 the way there are words that solve 1, 2 and 3 There might be an opportunity here 🤔🤔

Imagine you have a friend who will follow your instruction, but you can only text them one word. You text them "rest", they sleep. "Declutter", they throw out their junk. "Satisfice", they lower their standards. "Demand", "request" etc aren't enough to get them to reply

Aha. You want words that function well in the imperative? I find that this specific concept usually has a habit of getting more specific, since it comes up when I don't understand what someone wants. "Expand" - "I'm listening, but what?" "Ask" or "speak" - "You want, but what?"
