“Vibe” is a murderous word that’s killed many other better words. Let’s all take a moment to remember words like attitude, aesthetic, environment, demeanor, manifestation, dynamic and quality that are rarely used anymore because that’s, like, totally not the vibe right now.

Most observations like this are made by people who dislike a particular word and think therefore everyone else should, too. Language contracts and divides naturally with time. If you don't like a word, don't use it. SO CHALLENGING. Also, yes, half those substitutions are ass.

Secondarily, it's absolutely nothing new that most people have a small active vocabulary and stick with just a few fad words for a given category. This is more or less a direct function of verbal IQ modulated by literacy. It has nothing to do with words or language as such.
