The people who collect screenshots of others' tweets to publicly shame them would definitely be collaborators under a totalitarian regime.

There's also a diff between punching up & punching down, imo.
Although I'm getting close to never arguing on twitter at all anymore, if I lapse I still check the other's profile. If (as happens often) they have like 20 tweets & 10 followers then why even bother.

There is, but it's not all that.
Protective force and self-defence are both merited on the basis of potentiak harm, 'tis true, but lots of "punching up" is resentful abuse.
There is every reason to treat Jeff Bezos with scorn, but the worst person I've ever known does little else than complain about elites.
To his name:
- multiple rapes
- threatening recipients of unwanted pregnancies with "if you have an abortion, I'll"...
- possibly, murder

A lot of these people who claim to ounch up for grand causes are just like him: ineffectual, resentful narcissists and other scum.
It's about the actions and consequences, not the power dynamics as such.
