Pretty funny how most Americans seem to think neoliberalism is some kind of pure, Good "capitalism", when the only time the country was (near) universally prosperous, it was as a functional social democracy.

But yeah, I don't think social democracy could really survive. Nor do I think it should.
Something like it, though, in the sense of being not too in-your-face with redistribution but also creating wealth floors? Sure.
(Didn't mean to sound dismissive. Just acknowledging that it kinda sucks here, sometimes.)
