It's interesting how it was always the more radical left who were the first to demand solidarity with other oppressed people. Liberalism, not so much. Yet now, neoliberalism publicly takes on the mantle of "freeing people" and "bringing democracy". It's a clever trick.

Although I suspect very much a nonzero amount of that stuff is actually intelligence ops. Too much evidence of past incidents to believe that it's all just stupid assholes. Still plenty of stupid assholes out there, though.

They were on the receiving end of a cultural hegemony the likes of which the world could never have imaged possible just a lifetime ago. I try to cut them some slack, as a group. Many tried hard, burned out, and suffered, badly.

That is fair. Definitely been a big changing of the guard. Get the sense that most leftists these days are... very young. Like me. Support at the top is very, very sparse. No wonder, when you see what happens to people like Corbyn.

For some definitions of those terms, such as the ones I have a feeling you're using, sure. Plenty of using that to disguise not really engaging with difficult questions ("but it's just common sense!"). But I know that's not what you meant.
