Perhaps they want to and need to quiet their minds a little? When I see people express those views, I see them expressing a need. If you've come to a more relaxed attitude, then you may already have sufficient quietness to use a less forceful method.

Bingo. When I got into magic, back in the day, I got into something about two steps away from the worst and most vile version of those practices. Incidentally, I was kind of a whimp at the time. It served a need.

I hear you my friend. The caesura or the boundary that separates a practice or a retreat from "ordinary life" is both necessary (at first) and a barrier that can be dissolved in integration when the time is ripe.

That fits perfectly. We can talk to almost any person about techniques to calm the mind. But if we say to a person with no relation to these matters to "just be!" or "self-liberate!" it will not make any sense to them.

Just going around being upset about things without doing something about them is a problem I'm slowly learning not to have. Feeling compelled to do something when someone is doing something I see as bad, and I can meaningfully oppose, is a problem I'm trying to have more often
