That's great advice. I think the issue with the neocortex has more to do with its specific utility than its age, though.
A tool designed mostly for complex problem-solving and abstraction is not a great place to reside in, like, all the time. Especially when it's very limited.
Most of our systems tend towards satiation, if fundamental needs are met. If unmet, they will want to address them.
Neocortical thinking will just make up problems out of thin air, if nothing is available to chew on. That's obviously corrosive to our sanity.

The amount of times we have to think, and struggle, and suffer with dark thoughts before realizing "oh, I'm just hungry" suggests poor integration.
Hence, good advice.
