So, I understand the basis for the argument some people are making to shun Trump supporters for life. But do these people understand that outside the bubble of the US, they've just implied 90% of adult Americans should receive the same treatment internationally? :)

"I'm okay, I voted for the probably not racist war criminal who detained slightly fewer refugees and subjected maybe a bit fewer whistleblowers to show trials," is not much of a defense, if "voted for the wrong guy," is now reason to shun people forever.

Every US president for the past 40 or so years has been a figurehead for everything from war crimes through class warfare to regime change and political assassinations & foreign death squads. That Trump is worse than many of the others on several of topics? Well, yeah. But meh.

It's also pretty laughable that the response is *simultaneously* to claim Trump is too incompetent to run anything (maybe so)... ... AND that he is personally responsible for stuff that is undoubtedly decided by DoJ, intelligence agencies or other entrenched interests.

I know it must be awful to live under a regime that neither cares about you, your rights nor your votes, while spouting off about how "free" it is. Now imagine living under its shadow. You think having absolutely no influence whatsoever on US politics is the better deal?

It gets pretty laughable to see people simultaneously praising monstrosities like McCain or Kissinger, or, hell, even Obama, and complaining about "Trump's America." It's just America, guys. It's just America.

Trump isn't interested in anything but himself and his own advancement? Well, no shit. So what, you think gearing up for war in Syria and/or Iran is his doing? Get real. You don't think it matters as much, internationally, as e.g. ramping up illegal detainment? Get lost.

I respect anyone who hated Obama for droning little kids in Yemen & elsewhere just as much as they hate Trump for doing it. I have no patience for the rest of it, especially not the chest-puffing about when you "used to be different". This is just getting really tiresome.

None of that detracts from the dangerous possibility of Trump only continuing his escalation of different authoritarian measures... ... that were all made possible by decisions made in the past 25 years. That's the point.

Here's another tidbit for you: even if the global economy somehow doesn't self-destruct, Norwegian social democracy will die soon without substantial changes. Why? The current govt. got away with murder. We won't feel it now, but there will be a price to pay, soon enough.

The general human inability to see past the next couple of years will kill this planet long before anything else does.

"I want to vote for FrP because I'll save 5000 kr a year on cigarettes," is a real argument I've heard from real people. Real people who are in the global 0.05%, economically, just by virtue of their country of origin. "I'll save on cigarettes!" Schmucks.
