I absolutely do not care one way or the other if you "politicize" your speech.
I do find it tremendously frustrating to see people sociologize their speech, though. On the whole, sociology is a shit discipline that almost makes psychology look good. Almost.

Sure. I just saw someone say that disabilities are not real, but a social construct.
Granted, that may be true for some social value judgements of what constitutes a "disability".
But if a paraplegic is alone in the forest, can they now walk?

Clear example, thanks. You make a good point. I'm still baffled by how poorly we understand the relationships between objective (including 'material substrate'), subjective, and intersubjective. Social-constructivism has some valid ideas, but the insights get severely distorted.

It may sound prettier to say you are not disabled, but if your body functions differently then it functions differently. It's inescapable.
I don't see how anyone is helped by being in denial about such things. Yes, stairs are invented - but so are wheelchairs.
