I remember a woman who said that she gets really leary about guys who spew abuse at Alexa or other female sounding virtual assistants. I think, since they do sound human-ish, it is best to treat them as you would a human, lest you develop bad conditioning.

Damnit, I just said "please" to a computer.
Alexa: "I can turn on brief mode, where I talk less and play sounds instead. Do you want to turn on brief mode?"
Me: "Yes, please"
I don't know what's wrong being polite to computers, but I feel something must be wrong.
