I don't know how long that timeline needs to be, necessarily. There are people alive today who were adults when nukes were invented.
And that's a very finite game.

I unironically wonder if global pandemic is as close as we're getting to a fighting chance.
We're at levels of embedded corruption that do resemble early medieval Europe. The Black Death really did a number on the power brokers back then.
But we are also interdependent now...

Sometimes I look at all this and I wonder why I'm still messing around with sideshows like linguistics.
Doomer fatigue, maybe.

Hey man, already I ditched the "stable career" of customer service to do linguistics.
It's definitely incredibly difficult to just learn on the fly, though hard to say what effect, if any, it's had on my IQ.

Not sure what you mean by "IQ". Verbal IQ is only about 50% of the equation.
I should know. If verbal IQ was everything, my own IQ would be at least one standard deviation higher...

Short of brain damage, malnutrition or the like, IQ remains relatively constant (it's standardized by age group, so it's not really affected by aging as such).
Actual intelligence declines with age in most people, though. IQ is a relativistic measure.

Yeah, but now you're describing resource allocation moreso than resource availability.
G is suspect. Doesn't mean you magically gain 15 IQ points by doing certain things.
Well, maybe you can, but it's certainly not substantiated anywhere.
Except as the inverse of deprivation.
