and have established, public structures for the processing of grievance since they are inevitable even with the best attempts to end causes and conditions. that way people do not feel like they have to hold onto it.

if there is no external or social process in place for a person to safely share the burden of the grievance than i'm not sure what other possibility there is than accepting it and letting it go so that it doesn't eat away at you

I think the only reason it doesn't work better in Norway in every single modality is that Norwegians are excessively conflict-averse and thus enable abuse. That said, people here just proceed to *openly* enable it for all sorts of reasons, instead of trying to hide/ignore it.

Yeah, I've found it very difficult to make friends from the US that were my own age for similar reasons - though I understand this varies a lot by state and class.

I like to say that they remind me a lot of Poles. It's not meant to be a flattering comparison. Not that I'm all that keen on Norwegians, either. At some point, it's just post-monkeys being post-monkeys...
