Not sure what you think isn't true? There is one interesting point in my favor: I learned a lot of the lessons Ian learned fairly late, fairly early. Similar strengths & flaws. There are other lessons he's learned I'll probably never learn, though. Different strengths & flaws.

He thinks you're competent. In fact, right now, you're probably a better meditator than I am. (I've been better in the past, and will be again, with a bit of luck and diligence). But I'm an old intellectual with good judgment on intellectual matters.

Well. I'm open to that podcast idea if you are. ;) And yeah, I was being facetious. A bit. It's rarely useful to state your own self-belief too openly, I find. Breeds contempt. And then there's the very real self-doubt. I have a counter-conceited personality, too.

there's a strong cultural more that says if you're good at something you should never really just say it. I understand it's particular strong in the Nordic countries. Still plenty in Anglo ones though. Especially never say you're smart ;) People get super offended.

it's funny, really, because beyond a certain point, I've never found being smart very useful. Being driven or having good social skills is far more useful.

No shit. I used to have major issues with social skills. That's made a 180 degree turn. Still have issues with motivation and persistence, in many contexts. Seems to be weirdly connected with my anger issues (persistence is often bred by annoyance, annoyance feeds anger...)

if you use anger as a primary energy source and stop being angry, it can lead to issues. (This is, in fact, one of my major issues right now.)

Yeah, but in my case I think it's rather the instinctive avoidance of anger. I get annoyed -> this should prompt a commitment or action of some kind -> my self-reg shortcuts the potential anger trigger and I bum around instead.
