I really wish people would actually *say* the fine print. Like, nothing that is amazingly powerful is also completely safe (see: medication)
But also: yep.

I think it's also a matter of experience.
I've been practicing meditation on and off for 10 years. There was always weird stuff happening, but the last two years had more than the first eight put together.
Some people hit the really weird stuff sooner; others never.

And many, far too many teachers are either not that experienced or for whatever other reason not qualified to speak to that side of things.
